MICROCHIPPING is a unique and permanent way of identifying pet animals. The chip is the size & shape of a rice grain which is inserted under the skin between the shoulder blades by means of an almost painless injection.
The chip holds an electronic ID number which is linked with the owners and animals personal information/details , held together on a national database. Lost, stray & injured animals are now routinely scanned for chips by vets & rescue centres (including Battersea Dogs Home which is the destination of most strays handled by local authority dog wardens in this area). Microchips cannot be lost like collars. The implantation takes a few minutes only, in a routine consultation. Chipping is compulsory for the Pet Passport scheme
